Maple Fest at Saugeen Bluffs

We went to visit some friends on the weekend and stayed overnight, and also learned while we were there that Maple Fest was the following day. What a great weekend for a visit! Saugeen Bluffs is a Conservation Area/Campground that I used to go to every summer with my family camping, so it was nice to go back and see what has and hasn’t changed. We enjoyed some pancakes and sausage with Maple Syrup, and walked around the park looking at all the vendors. It was a bit cool, but nice and sunny and no rain! Perfect weather for a Maple Syrup Festival!

A Brief, but Scenic Adventure into the Woods!

We ventured into the woods yesterday across the road from our house to see what was back through the path. The trees are SO tall, and the vines on some of them are just as tall. There is a path to walk on, and it comes to a clearing where it looks like someone is logging. A lot of the trees are marked to be cut down. But, we did find some beauty – the path would make a perfect location for some Outdoor Photos this Spring/Summer, and we saw one single butterfly flutter by and land on a tree. I wouldn’t want to go back there at night, the Turkey Vultures that are nesting high above might get me!

Black Cat

This gorgeous black cat wandered onto the property where we were visiting on the weekend for a birthday party. It quickly became friendly with everyone, so our friend brought out some cat food for it. It didn’t wander too far away after that! It seemed to be quite comfortable, as it jumped the gate into the garage, and found the door was open going into the house and made the mistake of going in. Once inside the door it was met with 2 Jack Russel Terriers and 2 full size cats. Let’s just say ‘Attack’ was the word for that meeting! The dogs were given orders to stop, and cat ran in behind the washing machine. When our friend reached to get the cat out, it attached itself to her face – leaving some nice teeth marks and scratches! It was lightly tossed back out of the garage, and never to be seen again! It left behind some clumps of black hair, and the dogs had a few scratches on their legs, but everyone was ok in the end. Luckily, I got some photos before all this drama!

March Break – Beautiful Sunsets and Super Warm Weather!

We couldn’t have asked for more beautiful weather this March Break! Here are Sunsets from Friday and Saturday evening, and the fog we woke up to this morning. It looks so much better out in the country! I could take photos of the sunset out here every evening!

Smooch! Our little Pet Gerbil.

These aren’t my usual kind of photos, but I’ve been wanting to get some good photos of this little cutie since we got her.  We brought her home on Valentine’s Day to surprise the kids.  We thought it was appropriate (well, the kids mostly) to name her Smooch! She doesn’t really give hugs and kisses, heck, she barely lets anyone touch her!  She is very curious and very skittish, and as soon as you open the cage door she is right there wondering what is going on and if you are going to let her out.  To keep her from running away on me – either up to her bed, or out of the cage I just whistled.  She just stood there for me as I snapped a few photos and then went about her business.  I really wish she would let me pick her up, but she is too quick!
